AWANA is the acronym for “Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed” which is found in II Timothy 2:15. It is a children’s/youth program focused on reaching boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and training them to serve the LORD. This is accomplished through clear, concise presentations of the gospel and Bible scripture memorization. It is a fun approach to learning God’s Word and building character through games and activities.
The three AWANA Clubs are Cubbies (for children one and two years prior to kindergarten), Sparks (kindergarten through second grade) and Truth & Training (third through fifth grade). Additionally, a nursery is provided for AWANA workers’ children. Each Club Night, the clubbers have Game Time, Handbook Time and Large Group Time. The AWANA purpose for every segment of Club Night is “That all children and youth throughout the world will come to know, love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ”
